Journey Tracker is a browser extension that helps you visualize and track your browsing sessions. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the extension handles your data.

All data is stored locally on your device. Nothing is ever transmitted to external servers.

Data Collection

Journey Tracker collects the following data to provide its core functionality:

URLs and page titles of websites you visit during a tracking session
Tab relationships (which pages opened which other pages)
Timestamps of when pages were visited
User-created content such as notes and color tags you add to journey steps
Extracted page data from websites where you've configured content extraction rules

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. Your browsing journey data:

Never leaves your browser
Is never transmitted to external servers
Is never shared with third parties
Is never used for advertising or analytics

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit any of your data. There are no external servers, no cloud sync, and no analytics. The extension operates entirely offline.

Data Retention

Journey data remains in your browser's local storage until you choose to clear it using the "Clear" button in the extension. Uninstalling the extension will also remove all stored data.

Exported Data

When you use the "Export" feature, an HTML file is generated and saved to your local device. This file contains your journey data and remains entirely under your control.

Permissions

The extension requires certain browser permissions to function:

Storage: To save your journey data locally
Tabs: To read page URLs/titles and track tab switches
WebNavigation: To detect page loads and new tab creation
SidePanel: To provide an optional side panel view
Scripting: To extract content from pages (optional feature)
Host Permissions: To track browsing across all websites

These permissions are used solely for the extension's stated functionality.

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date above.
